You’ll Never Know…

August 31, 2010

She’ll never let you know if you made her cry. What will happen is this: She will ever so quietly shut down. Walls will go up. She’ll pull away. She’ll no longer share with you her deepest thoughts. You’ll never hear any more of her dreams. Her communication will become less and less… but so slowly that you won’t notice. If you do, and you ask her, things will be fine… she’s just busy.
Soon, you’ll be filling the empty spaces left by her with other things. If she doesn’t contact you, you’ll shrug your shoulders and say to yourself that she’ll surely get in contact later.

You will never know about her tears.

Eventually, she will drift out of your life. Little by little, her presence, her quirks, her laughter, her smile, will fade away.

All that will be left of her is a fluttery wisp of an aqua scarf out of the corner of your eye, and a gentle breeze that carries with it the scent of the ocean mixed with fragrant jasmine.

  1. Man, that was really sad. I wonder how many times I’ve done that. 😦
