“My 365” December 1, 2010

December 1, 2010

Every year it seems as if the holiday season has snuck upon us. Suddenly we feel overwhelmed with Christmas, as if the date had been changed and we weren’t informed. In truth, the holidays occur on the same dates year after year. Nothing has changed, including the way we approach this holiday season!

So in spite of a troubling economy, people are out in droves at the shopping centers of the the world. They are spending money they don’t have, on items that their loved ones don’t need. Or worse yet, they are purchasing some useless item for themselves, with no consideration for the rest of humanity. How many of these costly items will end up at the next White Elephant sale or yard sale for ten cents??

It’s obvious what I think about this. Is this really what Christmas is about… buying 5 pairs of shoes with matching handbags for yourself just because they were on sale and you though you might use them someday?

My Christmas wish list: What I want, money cannot buy. It must be a gift (the same one) from every person in the world. And therefore, every person in the world will benefit. Can you guess what it is?

What do you want for Christmas?

  1. Thanks Torie, for helping to put things into perspective. This is a season who’s original meaning has been shanghaied and corrupted by business interests. Love is free.
