Week 1

Day One

Waiting

Waiting

This is my actual birthday day. My parents had a small family party a few days earlier, and so I was all alone on the actual day. I love this dress, but have never had the opportunity to wear it. Therefore, I wore it for myself. Plus, it never hurts to be ready, just in case there is a surprise…

Day two

Ready to run

Ready to run

My mornings usually start off with a good 4 to 6 mile run. This day was supposed to be no different. I had nothing planned for that morning, so had woken up a little bit later, and enjoyed my coffee. I then received a phone call from George, the handyman, saying he was coming to fix the lights. This photo is proof of my exasperation as I wait for him to complete the job. I never did get to go running that day.

Day 3

Driving Carpool

Driving Carpool

I usually drive volleyball carpool at least once a week. On this particular evening, practice was held at a local community college where they required you to pay for a parking pass. I dislike paying for parking for just a few minutes, and so was furtively setting up my equipment and quickly taking photos while on the lookout for security. They did drive by several times while I was uploading and editing, but luckily never ticketed me!

Day 4

Day 4

This photo was taken in my living room. This past week had been pretty rough emotionally, and I have been thinking a lot about the special people in my life. Thinking about the special people who would sadly eventually depart this life. And thinking about the special people that I hoped would become more prominent in my life… and trying not to feel sad at the thought of that not happening.

Day 5

Day 5

I originally had other ideas for today’s photo, but while I was shopping at Whole Foods, got in a great conversation with one of the employees. She was lamenting the fact that she had to work and wouldn’t get to see the sunset. I realized what a great view I have from my front porch, so got my stuff together and went out to get it. I wasn’t having much luck with the shot, and was missing the sunset. This was my last chance, and I was laughing at myself, and loving the sun…

Day 6

Day 6

The past week has been full of a lot of emotion, as well as a lot of contemplation about my future. I feel as if I have more options now that what I had as a college graduate. In this photo, I am thinking a lot about my past… maybe birthdays have a lot to do with that… but feel as if my future is bright and sunny!

Day 7

Day 7

So very, very warm today. Temps at work were over 100F, and may have been even here in Long Beach. I taught, went to a meeting, went shopping, cooked dinner, and had to drive volleyball carpool, but I still had work to do. I spent the 2 hour practice in the car with my macbook. This photo of me climbing into the car was about an hour into the practice. My tripod was actually set up in the car on the passenger side. I’m tired, hot, and ready to call it a night, but I finally got this shot, finished my work, and drove the girls home.

as a side note, I’m now more comfortable with relying on my own choices of shutter speeds, etc. This was taken with no flash, the only lights are from the interior of the car, and the lights on the outside of the gym.
